Our story
Born in 2010, Trusty Trades combines more than 30 years of experience within construction, design, maintenance and repairs. It all begins with an idea, and Trusty Trades was the idea of our director, Matt Derrick.
MEET MATT
Matt’s career in the design and construction industry began in his early teenage years when he worked for a commercial landscaping company, gaining valuable site experience. After successfully completing a Bachelor of Interior Design at RMIT, Matt worked for several world-renowned architecture firms including Kerry Hill Architects (Singapore), Bates Smart and the Buchan Group.
Matt gained a wealth of knowledge and developed exceptional trade management skills while working on-site for the construction of the Aman Resorts high-end hotel in the Himalayas. Returning to Australia in his early thirties, Matt worked on a wide variety of projects including commercial and multi-residential real estate, hospitality, and shopping centres.
Matt’s forties saw him enter the high-end residential projects space, where his newfound passion for helping clients to build their dream homes developed. Most recently, Matt found that there was a need for a unique company that combined design and construct for Melbourne homeowners, which is where Trusty Trades was born. Matt has helped hundreds of homeowners’ repair and renovate their homes.
